Diet and exercise are two terms people may hold strong aversions to for a variety of reasons. For me, the exercise component was always strongly averted unless it was low-impact (walking, stretching, meditating, etc.) I’m an average person with a beyond average workload: I work full time and am also a graduate student. With my ten hour workdays and school being the majority of what occupies my time, exercise is swept under the rug, especially when I feel mentally exhausted (which are most days in my field). Working constantly means most meals are on the go, and exercise is minimal. Unfortunately, neither are good for you both physically and mentally. I knew that I had I nearly given up hope when I looked in the mirror and didn’t like what I saw. When I met Aida, she gave me hope again. After giving her a thorough explanation of my daily routine, Aida started to tweak my lifestyle starting with food and then finally with exercise. She went to the grocery store with me and helped me pick out foods ideal for my weight goals, and she also spent time cooking with me at home. She even cooked a few meals for me and let me watch her technique so I could cook the meals for myself! Learning to balance my carbs, proteins, and fats were the most difficult, and Aida knew exactly what to do and gave me a thorough breakdown of food intake that provided balance in every meal, proper nutrition, and addressed my personal goals for weight loss. Never did I feel hungry. I always felt satisfied after every meal and snack, on top of being even more satisfied by how delicious the food was! After addressing my diet, we tackled exercise. Aida took me to the gym and did a fitness assessment so she could see where I was physically and what I could do to attain my physical goals. Most importantly, while exercising she showed me how to work the machines so I knew what to do if I went to the gym alone. After the physical assessment, Aida went through several different exercises with me so that I could incorporate them into my workout schedule. Not only did she guide me, but she was also readily available. If I went to the gym alone and messaged her feeling stuck, she’d be there minutes later helping me through it. Who was originally my personal trainer quickly became my best friend. Aida was always by my side every step of the way.Today, my life has drastically changed. Yes, my work schedule is still the same as is my course load, but now I eat well and incorporate exercise daily. I always admired those who could manage it all, and now I am that person. Lately, I’ve been running two miles every other day of the week, and I’m weight training in between those days with two days off. I now get at least five days of exercise a week, on top of eating a healthy diet. The weight continues to drop. Just today I was noticing my pants are starting to slip down my hips, and it put the biggest smile on my face. I feel more confident and better than I’ve felt in a long time. Yes, it took hard work and dedication on my part, but I couldn’t have done it without Aida. All I can say is thank you. Aida helped me to gain confidence in myself, motivation, on top of a proper diet and exercise education that I now live by. She helped me change my life!
